303 Adherence to Nil by Mouth Guidelines in A Tertiary Centre

Abstract Aim Fasting before general anaesthetic aims to decrease the volume and acidity of stomach contents during surgery, which therefore reduces risk aspiration. This is a second cycle closed loop reaudit had implemented Nil by mouth (NBM) guidelines first as an intervention improve knowledge. Preoperatively, adult patients should remain fasted for minimum duration below: During interventions were included such as: teaching junior doctors nurses including specific induction new surgical posters displaying NBM placed in wards. These carried out despite restrictions COVID-19 pandemic. Method The same questionnaire was redistributed amongst staff members (nurses HCA) throughout various wards doctors.
